“Tiare”
This work pays tribute to Tiare, a surfer whose style carries the fluid grace of her background as a hula dancer. I first met her a few years ago, and her presence in the water left a lasting impression—the way she glides across a wave reflects the same rhythm and poise as dance. Painted on a hand-shaped wooden fin, the piece layers bold color contrasts against the natural flow of the woodgrain and a Tahitian-inspired background pattern, creating a dialogue between tradition, movement, and contemporary surf culture.
