I first met Taka at the WSL Longboard Championship in Surf City, and he immediately stood out as one of the most dynamic surfers on tour. His surfing style is a true spectacle — pulling off incredible maneuvers with such deep, dramatic arches that it looks like he might snap in half. But it’s not just his skill that makes him unforgettable — it’s his spirit.
Taka is always smiling, laughing, and radiating gratitude. I’ve always called him the happiest surfer on tour, and anyone who’s met him would agree. I’m proud to call him a friend, and I’m excited to share this painting, inspired by his energy and joy.
This piece will be exhibited at the US Open in Huntington Beach — a celebration of friendship, talent, and the pure stoke of surfing.
