“Humuhumunukunukuāpuaʻa”

When I moved to Hawai‘i in 1985, the Humuhumunukunukuapua‘a had just been named the state fish. It was a 5-year trial, and when it ended in 1990… everyone forgot about it.
In 2006 Hawai‘i finally realized it had been fish-less for years — and the Humu was made official for good.
Funny enough, it was one of the first Hawaiian words I ever memorized.
