My ideas have ideas II

$5,500.00

This is about how an idea can trigger so many other ideas in other people’s minds.
In 1987 I was trying to figure out a way to draw on surfboards, I was tired of the airbrush look and wanted to do something that would allow me to have more control and that would let me go faster, so I started experimenting with markers.

I’m not quite sure how many times I failed, boards that never dried when the lacquer coating was sprayed on, or the ones that started running all over the board, but one day I discovered these fat markers in a Japanese store in Ala Moana, and boom, everything worked. Posca markers are now used all over the world by kids that want to customize their surfboards, many artists took this technique even further and I can say that I am really proud how many creative ideas sprouted from that first idea I had in 87.
